The Uniqlo +j 2021 Fall/Winter collection dropped recently. Jil Sander was quoted saying it was the end of a chapter. Does this mean her she is stopping, for now? I totally forgot about the collection, so many styles have already sold out. I will wait for restocks (if they happen) or popbacks. As with the past collections, sizing can be all over the place.

to shop / uniqlo +j 2021 spring summer collection
The Uniqlo +j 2021 Spring/Summer collection dropped on March 25. I was able to get everything I wanted in a few orders (they limit 1 style per order).
WOMEN +J DRY SWEAT LONG-SLEEVE FULL-ZIP HOODIE
Maybe my favorite piece of the collection. It is intentionally oversized so you can go TTS or size down if you want a slimmer fit. Reminds me of the Nike hooded cape I used to like and have long since misplaced. I obviously got black, and blue. It also comes in white and gray, but I’m not much of a gray person.
WOMEN +J COTTON-LINEN SAFARI JACKET

Perfect for spring. I love the weight, the pockets, ability to cinch the waist slightly, the muted olive green shade. This is heavier weight and more sleek than the Uniqlo x Tomas Maier flight jacket. It comes in olive (pictured), black, and blue.
WOMEN +J SILK-BLEND OVERSIZED PARKA
A great shape. It is meant to be oversized. You can size down for a tighter fit or go TTS and be able to layer. The polyester/silk material is a bit high maintenance and I think black is better for the long run.
WOMEN +J SHEER WIDE-RIBBED LONG SWEATER
A nice ribbed knit. Surprisingly runs large.
What I didn’t like: The crew neck sweatshirt, sweatpants (a bit long), the linen-cotton wrap skirt (too prone to wrinkles). I wish they had tees like the old collection.
Tip: Don’t be bothered by having to return via mail. Pay with PayPal and use the PayPal return shipping refund program. The annual limit is quite generous since many places I shop from have free returns.

Uniqlo +J Collaboration

The last Uniqlo +J collaboration was roughly around the time that I started this blog. Uniqlo didn’t have e-commerce and in NYC, there was only one place to go – the Soho store. I still have a few pieces in my closet from that collection, but sadly some of the nicer pieces no longer fit.
I totally underestimated this launch and my own memory; I should’ve set up a reminder. By the time I got on, it was 1+ hour after the US launch and most of the women’s collection was sold out. I haven’t heard of any more major restocks but have been checking daily. If you are interested in any pieces and can’t get to a physical store that has it, best to be quick about purchasing online. I’ve linked the specific pieces below of most interest. I’m not sure yet whether something could be in stock but not show up at the above link for the entire collection.

I don’t wear sweaters often – mostly sweater blazers. The Everlane ReCashmere Stroopwafel turtleneck sweater caught my eye – mostly because I love waffle knit and how it was styled. The ReCashmere material is 60% Recycled cashmere, 40% Non-mulesed, extra-fine merino wool. It is soft and has a generous fit. If you are debating whether to size up or down, I think it looks better sized down. I also like that it is a higher mockneck for a sleek look. I am still looking for a white shirt to go under the sweater. I have been wearing it with a tissue turtleneck layered underneath (it doesn’t show on the outside). It does pill so I avoid having it near my purse. I have yet to see how it is after it is handwashed. The Heathered Sand color doesn’t look heathered at all. I didn’t like the black for a change.

to shop / gap and uniqlo lately (june 2019)
I haven’t loved anything from Gap in a long time. Their site isn’t as easy to browse (I like to sort by what’s new ), but I love that they have petite sizing and easy, free returns.
This puff sleeve utility jacket is very Goop, without the price tag and petite sizes! I prefer it in khaki without the belt. The pockets made it perfect for travel. Despite the linen content, it does not wrinkle easily. Perfect for spring or any space with air conditioning.

to shop / uniqlo u lightweight bag & ss 2019 mini review
My favorite item from the Uniqlo U SS 2019 collection is the U lightweight bag in black. I held back from ordering more t-shirts though, so that could have been a contender.

to shop / uniqlo lately (oct 2018)
I found myself in Uniqlo over the weekend, which is rare as I am much more of an online shopper. The Columbus Day long weekend sales are in full swing.
to shop / uniqlo airism slip + uniqlo u crewneck short sleeve tee
Uniqlo Airism Slip
Uniqlo has fiiiiinally brought back the Airism slip. I last sighted and bought them in 2014. My slips are starting to show some wear (after wearing them hundreds of times) and I’ve been patiently waiting for Uniqlo to bring them back! The fabric content for the 2018 iteration is 59% Nylon, 31% Cupro, 10% Spandex versus 67% Cupro, 30% Nylon, 3% Spandex for their 2014 iteration. I’m expecting them to be less soft. I will update this post once I get my order. (March 2018 Edit: The new slips feels just as soft, but cooler. They are also slightly shorter, so size up if you want more length. Since it has a lot of stretch, it will still cling in to fit and I think will resist snags/pilling better.)
Uniqlo U Crewneck Short-Sleeve T-Shirt
I really love the simple Crewneck Short Sleeve T-Shirt from the Uniqlo U collection by Christophe Lemaire. I would’ve blogged about it months ago, as it shows up in every Uniqlo U collection, but never got around it. Most Uniqlo U items run very big, but this is true to size. It is a thick knit tee in good colors, 100% cotton, not form fitting yet fitted, comfortable, and a bargain $9.90. There are striped designs will be released in early March (but will be more than $9.90). The other tee that I wear the most is from Petit Bateau which is harder to find and at least double the price. (March 2018 Edit: The striped version is out, I’m sad to say that while both solid and striped tees are 100% cotton, the striped ones are rougher.)

to shop / {favorites} uniqlo lightweight cardigan
In the summer, my work uniform is usually a dress (often COS) with a cardigan. The cardigan is a necessity — the a/c is blasted on the bus, ferry, and in the office and I also prefer to cover my arms if I’m wearing a sleeveless top. I fell in love with the Uniqlo lightweight cardigan last summer and was sad that the long version didn’t return this year. I did, however, end up buying this Uniqlo light v-neck long sleeve cardigan in black and then returned to get the blue and white. It’s sheer, made of a tencel/lyocell blend, hopefully blocks some UV rays, and is super affordable. I wash it in the machine on delicate. It runs TTS. Uniqlo also says it has a cooling touch and is anti-microbial. Sizes online are scant, but were plentiful when I stopped by the Fifth Avenue store.

to shop / {favorites} maison labiche mariniere
I have too many striped tees. This one by Maison Labiche is a favorite (tied with Petit Bateau x Kitsune collab). It’s a heavier material (not for summer), but it has a flattering fit and is soft. The sleeves are also not too long on my arms which typically align with petite sizing charts. I think it runs slightly big, yet tailored and neat. They come with an embroidered message on the chest, sometimes cheeky. You can also make your own (if you order from Paris or go to their Paris store). In comparison, Petit Bateau’s classic marinieres cut is boxier, the length/sleeves too long, and made of a stiffer material. And I never was into the classic Saint James tees either for similar reasons. This Maison Labiche top is of better quality than the striped tees that you’d find at J.Crew, Gap, etc. made of thinner material.
Currently Anthropologie has some styles on sale (long sleeve, short sleeve). Also find it at ASOS, Farfetch, Shopbop, East Dane (for him).
